MCCA is a
State chapter of the
American
Mental Health Counselors Association
The Maine Clinical Counselors Association is the statewide organization for professional counselors who work in independent clinical practice, public and private agencies, hospitals, schools, universities, and businesses.
MCCA provides legislative advocacy, professional development and leadership opportunities, as well as representation at the national level through our affiliation as the state chapter of AMHCA, the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
MCCA is your voice as a clinical counselor -- and we need your support and participation to make that voice as strong as it can be in these changing times. Because less then half of LCPCs in Maine are currently members of MCCA, we are focusing on increasing LCPC membership in 2011, to 80% of all licensed LCPCs in the state. We have done an enormous amount of work in the past 14 years -- but imagine what we would be able to accomplish with all LCPCs as members of MCCA.
The Incentives:
The Membership Committee encourages current members to have a dialog with fellow counselors about MCCA.
Join the Board of Directors
MCCA has accomplished a great deal since the initial drafting of last year's Strategic Plan, but we also realize we have many more goals to address and achieve. It is our sincere hope that we can encourage members to consider serving on the board, as we can accomplish so much more with more board involvement and the energy and new ideas that come from new board members. If you are at all interested in serving MCCA either as a Board Member or on a committee, we encourage you to attend any of our regular board meeting.
Board of Directors Application
Open Board positions:
Treasurer, Legislative Committee Chair, Professional Development Chair, Members-at-Large and various committee members. Board members receive free membership to MCCA, and meet the third Friday of each month at the University of Maine at Augusta from 1-4 PM. We are also working on using technology to be able to do video conferencing so that members who can't attend the meetings can still participate.
